The Company of Cranes schools eTwinning project brings together Freies Joachimsthaler Gymnasium in Brandenburg, Germany and Huish Episcopi Academy in Langport, Somerset. Both schools are situated in the heart of Crane country – Freies Joachimsthaler lies within Biosphere Reserve “Schorfheide-Chorin” and it is here that Cranes eggs are collected by The Great Crane Project for transportation and rearing in England. Huish Episcopi lies within the Somerset Levels and the young Cranes when old enough are released into this area as wild birds.
Melanie will work with pupils at both schools, visiting Brandenburg and Somerset in June 2014, to create and share Crane inspired artwork, photos and stories.
This project further explores and builds on these important links, leaving a lasting legacy for people and Cranes.
